Transport

One way of showing evidence of a journey would be to photograph transport and vehicles. There are many vehicle types that I could photograph as well as photographing is different ways. The image on the left has been taken from the inside of a car. It focuses on the water droplets on the window blurring out the rest of the composition. In the background there is a blurred car which still stands out due to its brightness in colour, standing out from the dark surroundings. On the right a taxi is photographed whilst moving but still a clear crisp image is captured. The car stands out due to its colour and also as it is placed in the centre of the composition, being the focal point.
Also I feel that photographing parts of the vehicles works very affectively as well as it explores the vehicles themselves which take people on a journey.

The image on the left is taken from a viewpoint behind a taxi. The frame cuts out the majority of the car despite the taxi number on its roof which remains in focus. The background shows a very urban setting, assumably in an area such as New York through the association with the yellow cab. Depth is shown through the narrowness of the street. The image on the right is a photograph from the inside of a car focussing on the steering wheel and front dashboard. As the steering wheel is turned and the front seats are vacant, it implies that people have recently been driving and have exited the car. Another way of photographing transport is from the inside, focussing on the mirrors around the car which include another image within the composition. This works effectively in showing the view of behind the vehicle, showing where they have come from and just travelled through, implying time passing as it shows where they previously were.
Street Photography
Long Exposure

This photograph is taken in a much brighter scene in a train station. Instead of light being the main indicator of movement, it is the movement of people walking which creates a constant blur and streaks which illustrates the movement. This is another way to show a journey, literally showing the movement of people in busy locations.
Night Photography

Night photography contains a great opportunity to explore light and colour created by signs and car lights on the streets. The image to the left illustrates a narrow back alley which consists of many shop signs, being the main supply of light. The way that a man is seen walking alone implies a sense of loneliness as there is no one else In site. This is also a very effective way to introduce colour as seen in the image to the left. A female is placed in the centre of the frame, maybe a style of candid photography, in front of a neon sign. The sign produces colours of red, pink, purple and blue which produces a very feminine colour scheme, relating well to the subject.
With night photography, the lights from cars and other sources provides a great opportunity for experimentation with focussing. By focussing on an object in the foreground or middle ground, blurring will therefore take place and show depth of field. As the picture shows, in doing so the background is blurred, causing the exaggeration of shapes of lights, creating a type of light flare which is seemingly affective.

I really like this photography technique as it is an effective way of including two images in one, a picture within a picture. Here a mobile phone is held up in the centre of the composition where it is in focus and a clear focussed image of the surroundings can be seen. Then the rest of the composition which is actually what the picture is of, is blurred which is shown through the shapes formed through the blurring of lights, normally in the shapes of circles.
Culture
Through travelling and taking photographs it is inevitable to come across different cultures and activities on you're travels. For example the image to the right portrays a group of young individuals playing a game of football. The sense of culture comes through them playing on the streets in bare feet and nothing other than a pair of shorts. This has associations with class and financial state.
The next image portrays culture through the association with food. Here three men are photographed whilst working in a fast food restaurant. The setting and costume gives an indication of the poor working conditions as it seems rather dingy and the men's clothes are dirty. In the penultimate image food is once again the main indicator of culture. Due to the fact that the person is seen to be eating an oriental dish through the use of chopsticks, a sense of Chinese origin is formed. Many things can come together in order to produce a sense of culture in a particular way. Through travelling yourself to a range of locations and areas, a variety of cultures and origins will be seen and become apparent where they tend to be located.
Then here once again the youth is used to show the culture within the image, two young boys are seem to be playing with a little dog on the floor. This presents them in a positive caring perspective which contrasts with the graffiti seen on the surroundings in the background. The camera seems to be at quite a low angle which allows for a stronger connection to be made with the young boys, putting the audience on the same level as them rather than looking down on them.
